Prayer

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, we have Sunday Night Prayer which is worship focused on prayer – for the world, for our city and our local community, for ourselves.

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When
he finished, one of his disciples said to Him, “Lord,
teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

He said to them, “When you pray, say:

“Father, hallowed be Your name,
Your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.”

                                                              (Luke 11:1-4)

Prayer is how we develop our relationship with God – just like we develop any relationship – by conversation.  Through prayer, we experience the actual presence of God.

Through prayer, we also experience the power of God
to change hearts, minds and situations, as well as to give us the strength we need to live our faith out.

Prayer was essential to Jesus in his life on earth; that's why it's so important for us.
